A planeload of humanitarian assistance, including medicine and medical equipment, from the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) will leave Abu Dhabi today to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR) for victims of the flood that recently hit that country.

According to Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi, RCS Board Chairman, the relief assistance to the CAR was within the framework of a humanitarian programme being implemented by the RCS in line with the directives of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and the close follow-up of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCS Chairman, to reach out to the flood victims in the CAR.

The flood displaced thousands of families leaving them in very difficult humanitarian situation.

Al Suwaidi said this cargo of relief assistance was the third to be flown to the African country by the RCS in an air bridge operation aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the victims. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
