The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) will inaugurate today a number of charity and development projects it executed in the Iranian town of Bam, which was destroyed by a strong earthquake that hit the town on December 26, 2003.

The projects include an orphanage and a centre for people with special needs built at a total cost of Dh2,387,450.

An RCS delegation led by Naema Al Mansouri, Director of the Office of the RCS Assistant Chairperson for Women's Affairs, left the UAE today to the Iranian town to inaugurate the projects, which were implemented in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The projects were also executed under the close follow up of Deputy Prime Minister and RCS Chairman, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
