The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) will join tomorrow countries of the world in observing the international first aid day with a series of activities ranging from training workshops to seminars.

RCS Board Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi said the RCS plays a pivotal role in supporting national health educational and awareness programmes seeking to ensure protection and safety of the community from chronic and communicable diseases and epidemics, addiction, road accidents, nutrition problems as well as from alien, bad habits.

He added that the RCS had drawn a plan for first aid training and community safety on the guidelines of the ten-year strategy of the International Federation of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies up to 2010. 'The RCS has partnered with international organisations to tap their experiences in training its volunteers on first aid and community services,' he explained. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
