RCS to provide urgent assistance to Iraqis

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, has ordered the RCS officials to provide urgent assistance to the Iraqi population in Al Qaem who are living under appalling conditions following the recent unfortunate events.

Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, RCS Board Chairman said that the Society has taken prompt action to implement the directives of Sheikh Hamdan in sending urgent relief supplies and carrying out humanitarian programme to alleviate sufferings of the population in Al Qaem City.

'The RCS has also instructed its office in Baghdad to send urgent relief supplies from its strategic stockpile of food stuff in Baghdad to Al Qaem City, and the people in Al Qaem are expected to receive these relief supplies in the next few hours', Al Suweidi added. Al Suweidi stated that members of the UAE RCS office in Baghdad will oversee distribution of relief supplies to the affected population in Al Qaem City. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
