The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) will transport a total of 50 tonnes of relief supplies for the displaced person in Lebanon. The items will be distributed in cooperation with Beit Zakat charity body in Tripoli, Lebanon.

"These relief items will be distributed to recipients in eight displaced camps. This move is significant in addressing the suffering of the displaced person who fled their villages during the conflict", said Mohammed Saleh Al Zarouni, Head of RCS team in Lebanon.

He noted that the RCS will continue its support to the victims as it would take a long time to rehabilitate their devastated villages.

Al Zarouni further reiterated that much of this aid will be channelled to families of RCS-sponsored orphans whose number currently stands at 500 in Tripoli town. The RCS is sponsoring a total of 2000 orphans in Lebanon with the support of UAE philanthropists. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
