RCS's relief efforts intensified in Syria and Lebanon

The UAE Red Crescent Society "RCS" is intensifying its emergency relief campaign aimed at supporting Lebanese displaced populations at make shift camps in the Lebanon and neighbouring Syria. RCS office in Beirut is delivering relief materials to besieged populations in Lebanese cities and villages and overseeing make-shift shelters which were set up at schools and public buildings.



In Syria, the RCS delegation delivered, for the second time, big quantities of drugs and medical supplies to public health clinics in Zabadani town (47 km southeast Damascus, and 10 km from Lebanon) and Damascus Syrian towns where thousands of displaced Lebanese people, most of them women and children and elderly people who fled their country due to the Israeli ongoing assaults.



Mohammed Nasser Al Otaiba, Head of the RCS delegation said relief medical supplies are being delivered in accordance with the instructions of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.



Relief operations are being followed up on by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and RCS Chairman. The RCS ' humanitarian relief efforts in Lebanon and Syria are being coordinated with the Syrian Red Crescent Society which is receiving and accommodating growing numbers of Lebanese refugees everyday, he said. The RCS delegation visited a number of make-shift shelters in Al Areeda town on the Syrian-Lebanese borderline. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
