As part of its sustained effort to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people, the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) is implementing a number of charity projects in Afghanistan worth Dh3 million. The projects include renovation of Kabul hospital and equipping it with medical facilities so as to provide better services to the patients. A Dh1.1 million has been earmarked for renovation works, while Dh1.8 million has been allocated for the renovation of an orphanage and elderly care centre.

Other projects include the digging of more water wells and purchasing of more food items for the poorest and the most affected families. An assessment team from the RCS will visit Kabul within the coming two days to assess the needs of the people and also identify new areas for future projects. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
