Amman - The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) of UAE continues to provide humanitarian assistance to displaced Syrians at the Syrian-Jordanian borders.

The third RCA delegation, headed by Ahmad Obaid Al Mazroui, arrived to Amman on Monday to continue the aid distribution programme in Al Turra and Al Shajara in Al Ramtha area, located at the Syrian-Jordanian borders.

During the past weeks, the RCA has distributed aid at the Northern Jordanian regions of Jerash and Ajloun in the presence of Jordanian Red Crescent representatives.

The delegation distributed food packages, medicines, as well as supplies for shelter and heating to hundreds of families.

The RCA has continued its programmes to support displaced Syrians in various Jordanian cities and regions, and is dispatching humanitarian convoys from Amman to the border areas due to the influx of more refugees to Jordan.

The RCA is also preparing to dispatch additional convoys to other areas in which aid has not yet been delivered.

Mohammad Jasem Al Mazroui, member of the RCA delegation to Syria, said that humanitarian operations are proceeding according to plans laid out by the UAE embassy in Amman in coordination with other humanitarian organisation partners in Jordan.

"The RCA's plans rely on the conditions of the Syrian refugees and their movement within Jordan. The needs of the refugees will vary with every phase," Al Mazroui pointed out.

"The operations have been carried out through fruitful cooperation and coordination between the UAE Embassy, Jordanian RCA, and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO). Humanitarian cooperation has been enhanced through joint operations between the aforementioned parties, and ambitious plans are being laid out to increase the quality of services being provided to refugees," Mazroui added.

Syrian refugees have expressed their gratitude to the honourable gesture of the UAE and its people. They also praised the RCA for their extreme diligence and care in responding to their humanitarian conditions and ensuring that their necessities were met.

A Syrian woman, mother of six, who is seeking refuge in the area of Ajloun, said that they were forced to escape from Homs due to extraordinary circumstances and worsening conditions, adding that she and her children were only able to escape with the necessary clothing to ward off the bitter winter cold. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
