Red Crescent honours medical staff who treated Iraqi children

The Red Crescent Authority honoured medical staff who provided medical treatment for the Iraqi children at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in recognition of the significant role they played in treating those children who came from Iraq upon the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and the follow- up from Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority .

In his speech in ceremony conducted for the purpose of honouring the medical staff, Salih Al Tae, Acting Secretary General of the Red Crescent conveyed the thanks and appreciation of Sheikh Hamdan to the medical staff and spoke about the humanitarian aid that the Red Crescent had provided to the Iraqi people. "The programs conducted for Iraqi people in the period from 2006 to 2007 reached 172 million, 340 thousand and 547 dirham in value including relief operations, health programs, establishing water pumping stations besides caring of orphans and bringing." he said "67 patients were brought from Iraq, 52 of them got well and were sent back home and there are still 15 patients receiving medical treatment in the UAE " he added (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
