Red Crescent hospital in Gaza to be ready soon

A hospital financed by the UAE Red Crescent Authority in the Gaza Strip will soon be completed in the latest part of a large effort by the organisation to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. The US$1.1 million Al Nada hospital will be the largest in the Gaza Strip and is expected to be completed over the next three months. On completion, it will serve a population of about 190,000 people in Beit Lahia, in the northern Gaza Strip.

The new hospital, which is 80 per cent complete, will have 36 beds for patients admitted to wards as well as four intensive care beds and a capacity for 4,000 patients at outpatient clinics every month. This project is part of a wide-ranging programme implemented by the RCA across the Occupied Territories, where it has been active since the outbreak of the Al Aqsa Intifada.

The RCA is active in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, providing food, clothes and medicines to Palestinians in places where whose housing, local infrastructure and the economy have been damaged in hostilities. The US$1 million Rafah hospital and the rehabilitation centre for handicapped people in other parts of Gaza Strip are among several projects implemented by the RCA. (The Gulf News)
