Red Crescent receives donation from ADCB for quake victims

UAE Red Crescent Authority received donation from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank amounting to Dh100,000 for supporting its ongoing humanitarian campaign for the relief of the victims of Pakistan earthquake.

Ervin Knox, the executive manager of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, submitted a cheque for the donation value, to Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, chairman of board of directors of UAE Red Crescent in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hamadi, manager of Fundraising Department, according to a press statement.

The Executive Manager of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, assured the importance of the efforts made by UAE Red Crescent in the humanitarian arena in Pakistan for the relief of the earthquake victims. He indicated that such efforts were highly considered at all community levels due to their impacts in alleviating the sufferings of the victims of that devastating disaster.

He added that the Red Crescent efforts made in various cities and villages affected by the disaster, highlighted the situation sustained by the vulnerable in those areas, and contributed greatly in improving their painful circumstances, so such efforts have to be supported by the various community institutions and to be involved in the humanitarian action made by Red Crescent to mitigate the psychological and corporal pains caused by the earthquake to the weak and fragile families in the Northern Region and Pakistan sector in Kashmir.

Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, chairman of board of directors of UAE Red Crescent, praised the generous support and donation from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. He confirmed the importance of the reaction between the community national institutions and the leading humanitarian role carried out by Red Crescent in the disaster field in Pakistan , to assess the needs and provide aid to the our brothers and friends, after the devastating events that resulted in great losses, deaths, damages, displacement of thousands of people, diseases and others impacts in the affected areas.

He said that RCS is working to continues its humanitarian efforts and address the issues of the vulnerable in the affected areas by providing the displaced needy families by their requirements such as relief materials, sheltering, food, medicines and other basic needs. He confirmed that all such efforts require the support from various community sectors to fulfil the positive expected outcomes from it.

He confirmed that the RCS is keen to spread its activities to cover the majority of the needy and weak categories and the vulnerable especially the children and women to protect them from the epidemic diseases and fight them by vaccinating the children in cooperation with the UNICEF, beside continuing the other relief operations to support the earthquake victims, and recover all matters to stability.
