Relief-plane for Darfur lands at Khartoum

The second plane-load of relief supplies for refugees in Sudan's western region of Darfur landed here yesterday. The plane, carrying 33 tonnes of relief aid, is part of the airbridge launched by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) to ease suffering of the displaced population there. The plane was welcomed by Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamed, Sudanese Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Isa Abdullah Al Basha, UAE Ambassador in Khartoum, and a number of senior social workers.



The UAE ambassador stressed that the UAE would spare no effort to extend its hand to the needy people wherever they are. He noted that the UAE relief agencies were maintaining high-profile across the world through their efforts in Arab, Islamic and friendly countries. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
