Rulers address the nation on 40th national day anniversary

Their Highnesses Members of Supreme Council, Rulers of Emirates, have highlighted the essence of Union and achievements attained by the UAE over the last four decades.

They paid a glowing tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and other founding fathers of the Union, who made the dream come true, citing the prestigious status attained by the country as a result of the Union and strenuous work.

They greeted the current UAE leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Rulers of Emirates for keeping the candle of Union burning.

H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah said the UAE has scored several achievements, but the greatest achievements of all are still awaiting, citing the recent Federal National Council (FNC) parliamentary elections in which Emiratis took part. "It is a new experience that tested the country's will under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan".

He called on the UAE people to sustain the Union, indicating that there are no rooms to the small entities. "United we stand, divided we fall." H. H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Ajman, told Diraa Al Watan Magazine in a statement that "The Union established by the founding fathers late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the founding Rulers of Emirates, have been sustained and cherished by the current Rulers, who believe that the essence of Union, is the strength".

Sheikh Humaid said, "today we mark the 40th national day anniversary under the theme: "Spirit of Union", adding that the Union lies in the sentiment of nation as it brings the seven emirates together under the one roof".

Sheikh Humaid hailed the late Sheikh Zayed and other founding Rulers for their contribution to the birth of Union, indicating that the current leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Rulers of Emirates, follow the footsteps of the founding fathers to sustain the Union.

He hailed the FNC elections held recently, which ensured the Shura, and a continuation of the gradual political empowerment programme that started in 2006 by the election of half of the members of the FNC.

The Ajman Ruler noted that during the four decades the UAE had been turned into a modern prosperous state, whose citizens enjoy welfare and security. "Despite the fluctuations of world economic and financial situations, the UAE achieved unprecedented economic boom that gives the Union its real theme that is felt by the citizens.

He added with the tempo of economic progress, the UAE has not forgotten the preservation of heritage and norms of the forefathers, citing the museums and exhibitions be hosted nationwide.

H. H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Fujairah, said the national day, Dec. 02, depicts the will of founding fathers of the UAE Union, who had persevered to create the Union.

The Ruler of Fujairah added that those founding father had turned a desert into a green oasis that has become an active member in the international community.

H. H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council member and ruler of Umm al-Qaiwain, said the UAE had scored another victory, while celebrating its 40th national day anniversary. "The current FNC elections is another political development attained by the UAE under Sheikh Khalifa".

He lauded the humanitarian efforts conducted by the UAE worldwide to help the needy and sick.

H. H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, said that marking the 40th anniversary is not a just mere day, but it is an immortal day in the history of UAE on which the citizens remember the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and other founding fathers.

He referred to the outstanding UAE achievements in the field of education, health, economy, social and infrastructure amid security and political stability.

The Ruler of RAK said over the last 40 years Emirati women scored huge gains through occupying senior posts in the country, and the ratification of many laws on the rights of women.

He added that the UAE has built the Armed Forces to be the shield of the country, while the police have been assigned to safeguard the security and stability.

At the Arab level, Sheikh Saud continued, the UAE leadership has devoted the time and energy to achieve reconciliations among the Arab brothers through amicable settlement of differences to achieve the Arab solidarity.

Regarding the three UAE Islands, "Greater Tunb, The Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa", the Ruler of RAK, said the UAE has been keen to peaceful initiatives through amicable dialogue, adding that the UAE received huge support and response in the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States to settle the issue.

"We hope that Iran will respond to return the islands to their legitimate owners so that warm relations are stored between the neighbours".
