Rulers mark the 37th National Day Anniversary

Members of Supreme Council, Their Highnesses Rulers of UAE emirates, congratulated President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the UAE people, on advent of the 37th National Day anniversary.



They made statements to Dira al Watan Magazine that "the 37th national day anniversary revives and rekindles the will and strength of the federation in the face of challenges and difficulties. The event evokes the stance taken by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers Rulers of different emirate to declare the UAE federation on Dec. 2, 1971." The Rulers applauded the decision taken by Sheikh Khalifa to make the 37th national day anniversary and 2008, as a year for the National Identity, adding that the UAE derives its strength, solidarity and true spirit from the federation.



HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, underlined that "what was achieved by the UAE since the inception of the federation in 1971 is a pride to the UAE citizens." The UAE is experiencing the economic boom and prosperity because of the directives from its wise leadership. The UAE remains as an economic powerhouse despite the current global financial crunch".



He called on the UAE national youth to acquire genuine skills and good education to keep abreast with the economic boom being witnessed by the UAE.



HH Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, hailed the declaration of the federation by the late Sheikh Zayed and Rulers, describing it as 'heroic and historic'. "The UAE is our mother and existence. We have to work with team's spirit and self denial to serve the country and safeguard our unity and stability".



HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, UAE Supreme Council Member and ruler of Fujairah, said that the progress "we enjoy today in all fields, is an accomplished feat commenced by the UAE founder the late Sheikh Zayed, a course followed by Sheikh Khalifa". He congratulated the UAE leadership and people on advent of the 37th national day anniversary.



He reiterated that "We have to exert further efforts to occupy a place among the most developed countries. This has been a strategic target for the federal government to attain sustainable development and decent living for citizens." HH Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Mualla, UAE Supreme Council Member and ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, said the 37th national day anniversary "evokes the past and opens avenues to the future", adding that the decision of Sheikh Khalifa to make 2008 as the year of the national identity is remarkable.



"Let's take Sheikh Khalifa's call as a roadmap for our youth, the backbone of this country's future. Our heritage embodies values, which inspired our forefathers in the past to build the civilisation upon which the contemporary world civilisation was built", he added.



HH Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and ruler of Ajman, said that "talking about the federation is great as it is linked with the late Sheikh Zayed. Today we pledge once more to remain united and continue the development process under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa".



He underscored that Dec. 02, has a special meaning and indeed "it is a remarkable day in our life", adding that the UAE has earned respect worldwide due to its moderate course and firm foreign policy characterised with wisdom, balanced approach, commitment on resolution of conflicts amicably and adopting civilisation dialogues course.
