The General Exhibitions Corporation (GEC), is back in the driving seat and ready to start its promotional campaign for the Special Operations Forces Exhibition & Conference (SOFEX) 2004, from April 26th-29, 2004 and the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2005 to be held from February 12-17, 2005. Following the great success of both SOFEX 2002 and IDEX 2003 and despite the current world climate of unrest in the Middle East region, the two events happened with an ease unexpected by the organisers and the participants in general, confirming the need for such events and their continued growth in the industries concerned and countries involved, according to a press release.

SOFEX 2004 is set to surpass its previous shows and will again be organised jointly between the Jordan Armed Forces and the General Exhibitions Corporation. SOFEX 2004 looks set to exhibit new technologies that will complement both the exhibition and conference itself the procurement requirements set by Governments, in this very unstable climate. The Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference was born from the growing demand for Special Forces systems and equipments, which are enhanced by the changing face of modern warfare all over the world.

The Counter Terrorism (CT) Conference is also a major step towards tackling these needs as it sheds light on terrorist threats and means to defy them. A selective number of experts will speak in this Conference, some of whom will focus on the role of Special Operations Forces in neutralising terrorism. Under the Patronage of H M King Abdulla II Bin Al Hussein, Monarch of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, looks set to be an event not to be missed.

With IDEX 2005, now in its seventh session and with the growing demand for such an event in these troubled times, IDEX and its unique and impressive range of facilities, activities and opportunities looks set to surpass all previous parameters which has made the event one of the most prestigious exhibitions in the world defence industry. Held bi-annually and under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the sponsorship of Lt Gen. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Staff, UAE Armed Forces and GEC Chairman, GEC will bring key decision-makers and industry leaders to the UAE with the prime objective of doing business.

IDEX caters to the defence needs of the Middle East and Asian regions, which together contribute for over 60% of the world's current defence investment. With its continued success, IDEX 2003 was host to 825 companies from 45 countries, displaying world-class defence products to a large number of official delegations, trade and professional visitors from around the world.
