Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Interior, yesterday unveiled his ministry's framework for implementing the recommendations of the UAE Government Strategy. The framework seeks to achieve the highest level of security and safety for citizens and the residents.

A supreme committee has been established to supervise the implementation in addition to task forces, which will identify initiatives and the most suitable mechanism for realizing the framework's objectives.

The ministry will also introduce new concepts to help the police force solve more complex problems, which are characteristics of any rapidly evolving society as a result of fast economic growth.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said: "The ministry's framework which mirrors the objectives of the UAE Strategy, also shares the common concept of "security and safety" with other ministries and government departments.

We have formulated this framework to reflect the logic and vision of the leadership in the UAE." He referred to the ministry's keenness to include some key focus areas of the Government strategy, especially "traffic safety", in order to reduce the number of road accidents as well as loss of life and property by raising safety awareness among drivers.

The ministry's objectives are to promote safety and security, maintain law and order, reduce crime rate and contribute to uphold justice. This is expected to be achieved through an emphasis on the rule of law and effective on-field and operational methods.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said that in addition to the security apparatus, the responsibility also has to be shared by the members of the society as well as the country's institutions through cooperation while addressing common issues and challenges.

The most prominent feature of the Interior Ministry's framework is to focus on the delivery of service and performance. In addition, as part of an ongoing process to improve performance, the framework will also include a study of public service requirements through questionnaires, to measure end-user satisfaction level.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed pointed out the ministry will also build on its strengths to be ready to confront challenges, while intensifying its preparedness to ensure the safety and security of the homeland.

The UAE government strategy, launched in mid-April, strives to achieve a set of objectives including a high standard of living while enhancing the level of service provided to the citizens and the residents. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
