Saif receives trophy of the United Nations Public Service Award for 2012

H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior has received the trophy of the United Nations Public Service Award for 2012, which was recently won by the Ministry of Interior, from Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police.

Sheikh Saif greeted Dubai Police who represented the Ministry of Interior on winning the honour which was in recognition of its efforts to eliminate gender discrimination in public service.

The United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. Through an annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service.

The UAE participated in five categories of the award, namely combating corruption, improving services in public service, encouraging policy-making participation, decision-making through innovative mechanisms and knowledge development in government.

UNPSA is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. Through an annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service.
