H.H Lieutenant-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior yesterday underscored partnership and cooperation between the public and private sector to achieve security and stability of societies.

In remarks at the opening of the 1st International Conference of the Private Security Sector, Sheikh Saif urged private security firms to boost their performance in line with the set regulations and quality standards.

He said 404 private security firms will be licensed to operate nationwide.

The UAE is one of the first countries to set its own corporate governance standards for private security firms.

He said government-owned companies will supervise advanced qualification and training for staff of those firms.

The event, he remarked, provides an ideal platform to interact with well-known industry experts to further bolster governmental efforts to strengthen security.

The 3-day conference which kicked off yesterday in Abu Dhabi is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Saif.

The conference aims to examine the best practices of organizations of the private civil security sector to help improve cooperation, criminal justice and law enforcement measures. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
