General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior honoured on Tuesday the UAE Search and Rescue team which participated in search and rescue operations in Pakistan in the wake of devastating earthquake that hit some areas of the country.

The 70-man UAE team which comprises rescue personnel from the Abu Dhabi and Dubai Police rescued four people alive and hundreds of bodies burred in the debris of the destroyed buildings.

"The UAE team was among the first to arrive in Pakistan and worked non-stop for six days until chances to recover more survivors began to dwindle,” said Brigadier Dr. Jassim Mohammed Birimaitha, Director of the General Operations at Dubai Police. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
