Second UAE aid plane arrives Tehran

The second plane of UAE relief aid to the victims of the earthquake that hit northern Iran landed in Tehran yesterday. Ali Hamili, UAE's Charge d'Affaires in Tehran and Dr. Saleh Al Taie, Head of UAE Red Crescent Society's Relief and Projects, were at the airport to received the 40-tonnes plane. The first planeload of supplies arrived on Monday. Al Taie said the relief supplies were ordered by President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He emphasised the RCS was ready to meet requirements of the quake-hit regions in coordination with relief agencies in Iran. Al Hamili said the UAE assistance had left good impression among Iranian brethrens who highly appreciated the humanitarian support offered by the UAE government and people. Al Taie yesterday toured the affected areas to assess their needs. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
