Second of December will always remain a shining mark in UAE history : Crown Princes

The second of December 1971 will always remain a shining day for the government and people of the UAE as its shine sparkles and illuminates other days of the year.

In statements to Diraa Al Watan magazine on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the UAE national day, the Crown Princes and deputies ruler considered the national day as a fitting opportunity before every UAE citizen for exercise self-introspection and review of what he has done towards his homeland and community.

They appealed to the people of the UAE to make the second December as a special and historic day by working hard to accomplish more magnificent humanitarian and civilIsational achievements.

The UAE leadership under President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, they affirmed has made every possible effort to bring about happiness to the citizens by building vital health and educational infrastructures, and securing decent living to them in every corner of the beloved country.

They appealed to the youngsters to live up to expectations of their leadership and toil faithfully to push the federation march forward.

The founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan passed away after he laid down solid foundations for a modern, developing state which takes all elements of modernity and progress while, at the same time, adhering to its indigenous values, traditions and national identity.



H.H. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said the second of December will remain live on the memory of the UAE people for ever.

'On that day, the strong will of the UAE people were pooled by the wise, founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow founding fathers to establish the UAE federation which stands today as a State that has successfully blended modernity with originality, might with simplicity, and demonstrated a matchless experiment of unity and solidarity of the UAE people,' Sheikh Mohammed said.

'The UAE under the able stewardship of President H.H.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, is progressing ahead confidently as per a holistic strategic vision to accomplish more achievements and double indicators of development in all sectors so as to fulfil national ambitions and ensure promising future for our generations so as reach international excellence and sustain development.



'Achievements and results the UAE has made locally, regionally and internationally are compelling proof of the sound policy and deep vision of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan which judiciously mobilised resources and energies to serve national interest, achieve progress, prosperity and maintain security, peace and stability.

'Employment of science and knowledge serve targets of sustainable development is the best way to help our State reach the qualitative production which does not primarily rely on oil to generate income,' Sheikh Mohammed said, noting that some poor natural resources countries have made unprecedented international excellence in economy and growth rates where the knowledge-based economy has become one of the key drivers of economic development in our modern time.

Turning to human resources, the Crown Prince said the UAE gives special attention and high priority to development of human capital as the backbone and target of development and at the same time its tool and means. Whenever this tool is competent and skilful, it will be more capable to deliver sustainable development.

The UAE, he added, is striving significant efforts launch major initiatives and investment to develop innovative solutions in clean energy and address challenges in that respect.

The UAE hosting of the seat of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), he stressed, is nothing more than a clear indication of the international status the UAE is occupying in global efforts to find alternative energy sources to achieve sustainable development in the region.

'The UAE is seeking to establish its profile as a regional and global centre for future energy solutions through initiatives to develop clean energy products and conserve the environment. The UAE has reserved an advanced place at the international renewable energy industry map.



Sheikh Mohammed believed that the foreign policy has a pivotal role in serving development issues by preparing the fertile ground for sustainable development through cultivation of sound, balanced foreign relations and extension of bridges of cooperation with all countries of the world.

The UAE, he went on to say, had joined hands with its sister Arab and GCC countries to advance international diplomatic efforts to contain flash points of tensions and conflicts based on the principle of settling disputes through peaceful means, observance of Arab, Islamic and international charters, standing behind right and justice and supporting and engaging in efforts towards maintaining international security and peace.



H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, said 'The second of December will always remain a shining day for the government and people of the UAE with its shine sparkling and illuminating other days of the year.

'That day chronicled the birth of the UAE federation and the start of a breakthrough drive towards welfare, security, peace and ambitions for spectacular achievements,' Sheikh Hamdan said.

'The founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan passed away after he laid down solid foundations for a modern, developing state which takes all elements of modernity and progress while, at the same time, adhering to its indigenous values, traditions and national identity.

'A researcher and observer of achievements the UAE has made in all walks of life cannot ignore the historic decision the founding fathers took to create the federation. That day was a historic juncture not only in the life of the UAE children but also in that of different countries and peoples who viewed the federal experiment with high admiration and appreciation.

If the dream of the Federation State was realised by the UAE leaders 39 years ago, Sheikh Hamdan noted, history will witness that the first building blocks were developed by the sagacity of the leadership and determination of the people into a coherent structure based on solid pillars.

'This progress which has become one of backbones of the federation state has produced , under the able stewardship of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, remarkable achievements in infrastructure and in the economic, military, educational, health, and social sectors. This progress has reinforced the structure of the country whose people had opened up to other cultures and civilizations utilising the positives of advanced technology and science without compromising their valuable national identity, sheikh Hamdan affirmed..



H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, considered the national day as a fitting opportunity before every UAE citizen for self-introspection and review of what he has done towards his homeland and community.

'Our theme in 2011 should revolve around science and scientific methodology to unleash the underlying potentials of our people and country to enrich all aspects of life.

'Our people are fully confident that their historic leadership will set the example in overriding any obstacles - be locally or internationally - and will lead the UAE people towards progress and delivery of their national and international message.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, appealed to the people of the UAE to make the second December as a special and historic day by accomplish more humanitarian and civilisational achievements.

'Our leadership under President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has made every possible effort to bring about happiness to the citizens by building vital health and educational infrastructures, and securing decent living to them in every corner of the beloved country," he added.

'All these are being executed within the federal government strategy under the supervision of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is striving to pursue the sustainable development strategy to ensure a promising future for the UAE and its people, protect national gains, and to upgrade performance of government sector to deliver world class services to both Emiratis and expatriate residents," he added.



H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, urged the children of the UAE to steam ahead towards future with confident and solid steps to pursue the drive of progress whose foundations were laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his fellow founding fathers.



'The UAE has gone a long way in development in all walks of life including economy, tourism, education, health and housing thanks to the prudent stewardship of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is aided by his fellow Rulers of the Emirates,' Sheikh Ahmed said.

He added the UAE federal experiment stands today as a living model for those who want to close their ranks.



H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, said the spectacular national day comes on the heel of the publishing of H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, of his latest book "Talk of Memories" (Hadeeth Al Zakira) on the history of the UAE federation.



The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah said the cultural event add a significant momentum to the glittering National Day celebrations.

The book gives deep insights into the astute wisdom and leadership of the late founding fathers and indomitable determination of the great men of UAE that history never repeats the likes of them and whose their love to the soil of their land, self-denial and loyalty and who placed the interest of their people and country above any other interests, created a great union that is growing mature and stronger year after year.



H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, affirmed that the comprehensive development the UAE is experiencing today in all walks of life demonstrates the sincere loyalty and commitment of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other leaders of the Federation to building a true, viable renaissance that delivers welfare to all people of the UAE.



'The achievements made by the UAE which were launched by the maker of the UAE federation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, are still going on, adding more love and deep respect of the UAE people for the beacon of development President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his fellow Rulers of Emirates," he added.

The UAE leaders, he stressed, spare no efforts to bring about development and progress as well as to preserve security and stability to the UAE people. He appealed to the youngsters to live up to expectations of their leaders and toil faithfully to push the federation march forward.



H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, said the UAE, armed with the persistence, dedication and relentless work of our leadership, has accomplished a lot of achievements and successes that the near and far people speak about them with commendation.

'We are determined to achieve more but the focus will be on building and educating the human being..... education is one of the top priorities of our government and its instrument to groom and qualify the Emirati citizen to excel, give and be an active builder of his country. Investment in education is the a key guarantee for success of development in any sector,' he indicated.



Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE is maintaining a well position at Arab, Gulf, Islamic and international arenas. It has contributed to establishing principles of solidarity and cooperation through its support for Arab and Islamic issues and stances.

'The UAE has made strenuous efforts to consolidate solidarity and unity, enforce justice and maintain stability. Through its humanitarian and political stances, it has reached to the underprivileged and deprived people around the world to alleviate their suffering regardless of their affiliations and faiths. These efforts placed the UAE leadership and people among the top energetic diplomatic countries in the region and the world at large,' he affirmed.



H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm al-Qaiwain, said that he is proud to be one of the learners of generations graduated from the UAE Federation educational institutions.

'With his sharp sagacity, the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has judiciously used the underground wealth to build magnificent model of development and progress," he said.

Achievements of the founding fathers of the federation, he added, stand today to show they were true makers of civilisation and delivered their message in a proper way with high sense of dedication and honesty.

'Sheikh Zayed lent his attention to conservation and protection of the environment, natural resources and wild life long time before the international community began to introduce conventions for protection of these valuable natural resources. Under his successor, President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a series of clean energy initiatives were launched," he noted..



Crown Prince of Ajman H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, said :'Whenever we remember this anniversary, we stand with tribute and esteem to an entire generation of parents, led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who gave a lot and made a generous efforts on the long path of the Union.

'What has been achieved since the first years of federation surprised everyone and drew wide attention to the emerging, young, coherent State,' he added.

'Armed with strong resolve, the rulers of emirates had braved challenges and made what experts considered as unachievable, turning the barren desert into a lush green gardens," he affirmed.

The Crown Princes and deputies ruler paid homage to the founding fathers the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his fellow leaders for their devoted and sincere efforts to establish and build the UAE federation and offered their heart-felt congratulations to President H.H.
