Dakar - Senegalese President, Abdoulaye, received here yesterday evening Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived earlier in Senegal as part of his tour of a number of African countries.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to boost them in the areas of investment, economy and trade.

Sheikh Abdullah conveyed through to the Senegalese President greetings from President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and wishes for more progress and prosperity for Senegal and its people. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE's keen interest in boosting relations with African countries, including Senegal, particularly in the areas of economy and trade, through active trade exchange, investment and boosting of ties between the various business sectors of the two countries.

The UAE minister praised President Wade for his great efforts in pushing forward the wheels of development in Senegal in various areas.

President Wade, for his part, warmly welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and his entourage and wished bilateral relations between the two countries more development and progress for their mutual interest.

The Senegalese president reviewed with Sheikh Abdullah latest developments in his country, including the country's economic indices, political stability, development drive and the government's future plans in the area of education, as part of a comprehensive development programme targeting areas like education, services and infrastructure.

He praised the UAE for its significant humanitarian works on the African continent, particularly African countries suffering from drought and little resources.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed held a meeting with Senegalese Prime Minister, Cheikh Hadgibou Soumari, who praised the UAE for achieving great economic and civil development under the wise leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He expressed his country's deep interest in creating more opportunities of joint cooperation and investment with the UAE.

The Senegalese Prime Minister said Senegal's interest in boosting ties with the UAE stemmed from its deep belief in the fact that the UAE is now the regional hub of trade and investment and the centre of attraction for capitals from various parts of the world, thanks to the security and stability the country boasts of in all areas.

Sheikh Abdullah had earlier held talks with his Senegalese counterpart, Cheikh Tidiane Ghadio on ways to boost relations of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economy and investment. They also shared views on a number of issues of mutual interest. Present at the meeting were Minister of State, Reem Al-Hashimi, UAE Ambassador to Sudan, Isa Abdullah Al-Basha Al Nuaimi. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
