Senegalese President starts UAE visit

Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has arrived yesterday afternoon in Abu Dhabi City starting a multi-day visit to the UAE.

The Senegalese President was received by UAE Minister of Education Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali and Senegalese Ambassador to the UAE Cheikh Tidiane Sy. and the UAE Ambassador to Morocco and UAE non-resident Ambassador to Senegal Eissa Hamad Bu Shehab.

Wade's current visit comes as part of efforts to bolster bilateral relations between UAE and Senegal.

In a statement to WAM, the Senegalese President said he will hold talks and consultations with President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on joint cooperation between their two countries in all areas and ways boost them.

Based on the active role the UAE has been playing in the Islamic world since the establishment of the OIC during the reign of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the meeting between Sheikh Khalifa and Wade will also take in consultations between their two countries about the next Islamic Summit by Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) scheduled in Senegal early 2008.
