Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Chairwoman of Emirates Youth Council, has hailed the UAE's experience of investing in young people, developing their ideas and honing their talents to build a bright future.

The UAE minister made the remark at a seminar, entitled "Shaping the Future: Strengthening the role of Youth in the Middle East," organised by the "Atlantic Council," a think tank, in Washington.

She reviewed the UAE experience in youth empowerment during her participation in the panel discussion that highlighted the major challenges facing young people in the region, and how best to harness their abilities to build a promising future.

AlMazrui said since the inception of the UAE 44 years ago, the UAE leadership has been offering many opportunities to the young people, supporting their ideas and enhancing their creativity, being the real force to achieve prosperity and success. She expressed the hope that the region would successfully interact with the youth by taking the UAE as a role model.

The UAE minister noted that she is a witness to the commitment of the UAE to support and empower young people in real terms, not just through speeches and slogans. She cited the initiative of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to assign ministerial portfolios in the government to many young people under the age of 37, including the office of the Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

The session saw a significant reaction from the attendees who expressed their desire to learn more about the unique experience of the UAE in promoting the youth and engaging them in all aspects of life..-Emirates News Agency, WAM -
