Sharjah airport traffic
rises 12.5%

Sharjah International Airport recorded a 12.5 per cent increase in passenger traffic in the first nine months of this year marking its busiest nine months ever. A total of 5.6 million passengers passed through the airport from January to September 2012 compared to 4.9 million in the same period last year.

The year to date aircraft movements were up 3.9 per cent in first nine months of this year to reach 48.874 compared to 47.040 in the same period a year earlier. The freight handled for the same period of this year recorded 332,836 tonnes. Dr Ghanem Al Hajri, chairman of Sharjah International Airport said: "Sharjah International Airport became the preferred travelling option of many because of the efficiency of procedures, excellent services.” – Khaleej Times
