His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah ,issued an order restructuring Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA).
He also issued an Emiri decree No.37 of 2012 transferring and appointing Khalid Saif Al Medfa, Assistant Director General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Sharjah International Airport- Free Zone Authority, as the Director General of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA)
This decree is effective from the date of issuance. It cancels any provision which is contrary to its provisions, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
The decree No.36 of 2012 stipulates that the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority of the emirate of Sharjah will be an entity enjoying juridical personality and financial and administrative independence, and will have full legal authority to achieve its objectives.
The Authority, in cooperation with the private sector and in coordination with the competent authorities, will be responsible for promoting commercial and tourism activities. Its objectives also includes development of tourism resources and their employment for contributing to the development of national economy. The Authority will also strive for the dissemination of tolerance and understanding between peoples of the world .
The Authority will be headquartered in the emirate of Sharjah and will have the right to establish branches and bureaus outside the emirate.
The decree contains 13 articles and revokes decree No.10 issued earlier in 2007.
