Sharjah Municipality wins award at Environment 2001

Sharjah Municipality won an award for its distinguished participation in the Environment 2001 Exhibition which concluded in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, according to Ibrahim Taher, head of the municipality's public relations and media section. The municipality's pavilion was one of the 10 pavilions which won the award out of more than 300 participants in the event. The pavilion features a model of the sewage plant in the emirate which is a big achievement by the civic body. A number of sections from the municipality were represented in the pavilion including the environment protection, solid wastes, agriculture, drainage, etc. Posters and publications were displayed to highlight the municipality's achievements, services and activities. The environment protection section displayed the equipment they use in measuring the level of noise, visual, and odours pollution in addition to other environmental hazards. The solid waste section features models of some equipment used in getting used in getting rid of rodents and insects. (The Khaleej Times)
