His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah yesterday opened an exhibition at the Sharjah Museum displaying archaeological findings from Al Buhais 18 site in Sharjah. The opening ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince & Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikhs and senior officials.

Sheikh Sultan toured the exhibition which contained tombs, monuments and human remains recovered from the site. The tombs, dating back to pre-historic era, gave an important clue to a complex scull surgery.

The human remains found in Al Buhais 18 graveyard also provide key information which helped archaeologists to understand the complicated burial rituals, the jewellery used at that time and the species of animals which survived there. Sheikh Sultan also attended a lecture given by Professor Hans Peter Ebermann from the German University of Tuebingen on "Al Buhais during the modern stone age". - Emirates News Agency, WAM
