Sharjah celebrates 10 years of successful organisation of the F-1 Powerboat championship

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), organisers of the 2009 F1 Powerboat World Championship - Sharjah Grand Prix, held a press conference today ahead of the event, which will take place on 10 and 11 December at Sharjah's Khalid Lagoon.

In attendance at the conference were H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman, SCTDA Director General and Head of the organizing committee for the Sharjah Grand Prix 2009 and the Etisalat-Sharjah Water Festival, Mr. Nicolo di San Germano, UIM F1 promoter, and F1 drivers Thani Al Qamzi, Juido Cappellini, Jay Price, Jonas Anderson and Sami selio, as well as a number of representatives from the F1 International Association and the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club.

Sharjah has received numerous awards for its hosting of the event, which attracts tens of thousands of spectators every year, including "Best Event Organizer" awards for 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007, as well as a World Media Award in the best organizer category in 2001. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
