Sharjah to build houses for 500 homeless Sri Lankan families

H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah gave instructions yesterday to Sharjah concerned authorities to launch a reconstruction project in the northern areas of Sri Lanka in support of victims of poverty and civil war.



A whole village of five hundred brand new houses will be built to provide proper accommodation and services for homeless Muslim families who lost their houses during the Sri Lankan civil war.



The foundation stone of the project will be laid by Director General of Sharjah Awqaf (endowment) Secretariat General who is leading a delegation to Sri Lanka.



At a luncheon he held in honour of the delegation, Sri Lankan Reconstruction Minister Rashid Badei' hailed the humanitarian and charitable efforts by Sheikh Sultan. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
