Sheikh Dhiyab hires Canadian crew to shoot a movie on camel

Sheikh Dhiyab bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan has hired a crew of Canadian filmmakers to shoot a 3D movie about camels participating in the 16-25 December Al Dhafra Festival at Medinat Zayed, organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

Elaborating about details and message of the film, Sheikh Dhiyab told a press conference yesterday that the idea of the film, the first of its kind in the whole Middle East region in 3D technique, struck his mind last year and aims to show the exquisite and charming beauty of the camel and its inestimable value in the region.

'The movie will also introduce the festival and the traditional nomadic life, he added.

According to him, the Canadian crew is currently shooting parts of the film during the festival. 'The shooting of the movie will take one week and will be produced in both Arab and English. It will appeal to the nomads and serve as magnet feature to attract tourists who have passion for local heritage and culture,' he indicated.

Asked by Emirates News Agency, WAM, about his passion for the camel at the modern age of technology, Sheikh Dhiyab said ' he was raised in a Bedouin environment considering the camel as a key element in its .... my love of camel underlines my belonging and identity.

'It also a hobby but one should also take care of today and tomorrow without compromising his past,' he affirmed. The 4th festival attracts 20,000 camels. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
