Sheikh Hamdan hails relations between UAE and France

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, yesterday hailed the distinguished relations between the UAE and France in all fields. During a meeting with French Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Renaud Muselier, who is on a two-day visit to the UAE as part of a regional tour, Sheikh Hamdan said that the foundations of such relations were laid down by President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and French President Jacque Chirac. They reviewed co-operation between the two countries in light of the two countries desire to further strengthen and broaden these ties.



They also discussed preparations being made for the meeting of the UAE-French Joint Committee due to be held at Ministerial level in Abu Dhabi early next year. The Ministers also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, particularly the Iraqi issue and conditions of the Palestinian occupied territories. For his part Muselier praised the level of relations between the two countries in political, economic and military fields. He described such relations as historical, noting that they have reached a high level thanks to the wise policies of the two countries' leaders. Present at the Foreign Ministry officials and French Ambassador Francois Gouyette.



Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamdan met with GCC Secretary General Abdul Rahman Al Attiya and reviewed with him the agenda of the 23rd GCC summit due to be held in Doha on December 21-22. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
