Sheikh Khalifa confers Independence Order on British Ambassador

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has conferred the First Class Independence Order on HE Edward Oakden, the British Ambassador to the UAE, in appreciation of his efforts during his tenure to strengthen relations between the UAE and the United Kingdom in various fields.

HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, presented the medal to the British Ambassador today at his office at the Presidential Palace.

HE Edward Oakden expressed his profound gratitude to President HH Sheikh Khalifa and praised his wise leadership and the prominent role he is playing regionally and internationally.

The ambassador also expressed thanks to the officials and competent authorities in the State for the cooperation accorded to him during his tenure which, he said, had contributed to the success of his mission. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
