Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed receives South Australia Governor

Sheikh Mubarak Bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan received the Governor of South Australia. His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin John Scarce. Rear Admiral Scarce expressed admiration of the economic, education and investment development achieved by the UAE. Present at the meeting were Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Australian Ambassador to the UAE Jeremy Bruer, Dr. Tayyeb Kamali Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of technology. Rear Admiral Scarce and Sheikh Nahyan discussed higher education relations and cooperation between the UAE and South Australia.

Rear Admiral Scarce and the accompanying delegation will be meeting other senior UAE officials. They will also be present at a match on a football match scheduled on February 9 between the South Australian AFL team, 'the Crows' and Victoria State, 'Collingwood' to help promote South Australia and highlight its growing trade relationship with the Middle-East.

Among the members of Scarce's accompanying delegation are officials from Carnegie-Mellon University Adelaide, Andrew McEvoy Chief of South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), Andrew Ford, director general of SATC as well as well as representatives of South Australia's educational system.

The UAE, according to Acting Minister for Industry and Trade, Paul Holloway, is and the second largest Middle Eastern destination for and South Australia's exports.

South Australia's exports to UAE in 2006/2007 reached 168 million US dollars of cereals, Holden cars, foods and beverages. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
