Cairo - H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President's wife and Chairwoman of the General Women Union, GWU, yesterday donated Dh1 million to the Egyptian Friends of Bright Tomorrow Association for handicapped people. Sheikha Fatima accompanied by Egyptian first lady Suzane Mubarak visited the Association's headquarters at Salam City here and made a tour of the various sections of the facility.

She ordered all products displayed in the Association's exhibition hall to be purchased to enable such humanitarian body to run the many centres that belong to it. Sheikha Fatima lauded the efforts of the Association and the role it played in helping the handicapped. "This centre and other similar centres in the Arab world carry a noble message that reflects the spirit of our civilisation and our noble values which obligate us to help all the sectors of the society," Sheikha Fatima said.

She urged the need for exchange of expertise between Egypt and the UAE in the field of caring for people with special needs. She also noted the great progress the UAE had achieved in integrating the handicapped people into the society thanks to President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's care and support for such centres.
