Sheikha Fatima donates Dh5 million for Pakistan floods relief efforts

H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union '&' honorary head of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has contributed Dh5 million towards the aid of floods victims in Pakistan.

Sheikha Fatima urged the RCA to step up its relief and humanitarian aid operations to help the people affected by floods in Pakistan.

In a statement issued yesterday, the RCA praised Sheikha Fatima's humanitarian initiatives and her unlimited support to the Authority's activities. The statement referred to Sheikha Fatima's initiatives in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas of the world. The donation made by Sheikha Fatima will be used to save lives and alleviate suffering of the people affected by floods in Pakistan through provision of their basic needs and improving the humanitarian situation there.

"Plans are already in place to utilise Her Highness Sheikha Fatima's donation in the best possible way to help victims of the floods and to improve their living conditions during the holy month of Ramadan," the statement said.

Meanwhile, an RCA delegation will leave for Pakistan shortly to oversee procurement of relief materials from the local market and their distribution in the affected areas. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
