The UAE Red Crescent-financed Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak charity hospital was opened yesterday. Governor of Ramallah Mustafa Isa paid homage to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his great support for the Palestinian people through establishment of hospitals, schools, mosques and other humanitarian projects.

Located in the town of Tarmsea, the 16-bed hospital was built on an area of 1000 cubic metre and serves 40,000 peoples. 'An award for gynaecology is under-construction to offer services to pregnant women who some of them gave birth at Israeli check points because of delay to reach hospitals in nearby towns,' he added.

'The hospital was fitted with the most modern medical equipments provided by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS),' he said. Sami Makawi, Director of the Emirates Friends' Society, said the RCS had carried out humanitarian projects worth US$11.5 million over the last two years. Assistance, he added, would continue to benefit more needy families. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
