Sheikha Fatima welcomes delegates of Arab women

H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President's wife and Chairwoman of the UAE Women Federation, today said that she was delighted at the holding of the Arab Women's Day festivities and the Arab Women Media Forum, AWMF, in the UAE. Meeting some of the Arab women delegations that arrived to take part in the events, Sheikha Fatima said "I am glad to be receiving my sisters, wives of Arab leaders, and other Arab women leaders and welcome them to their second country, the UAE." "I consider the presence of Arab women elite as an opportunity to work together to further improve women causes and adopt common positions to achieve a better future for women," Sheikha Fatima added. Among the first to arrive was Sudanese First Lady Fatima Khalid who expressed her pride in the role played by Sheikha Fatima in improving women lot in the UAE and the Arab world. She said that the visit would be a good opportunity for Sudanese women to acquaint themselves with the experience and achievements of UAE women.

Suzanne Mubarak, Egypt's first lady and Chairwoman of Egyptian National Women's Council, praised Sheikha Fatima as a bright symbol of Arab women movement. Mubarak, who made her remarks after meeting Sheikha Fatima, said that she was delighted at visiting the UAE and meeting with Sheikha Fatima. She also appreciated Sheikha Fatima's initiative to honour leaders of Arab woman movement. Sheikha Fatima also received Princess Lala, sister of King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The Moroccan Princess said she was carrying greetings and best wishes of King Mohammed and Moroccan people to the UAE leadership and people. ' My selection by Sheikha Fatima among Arab women who will be honoured for their leading role in the advancement of women issues is a source of pride to me,' she added, stressing Morocco would spare no effort in supporting sincere initiatives aimed at building better future for Arab woman.(The Emirates News AGency, WAM)
