Sheikha Fatima's humanitarian efforts hailed

As the UAE is set to mark on March 8, International Woman Day, the Cultural and Media Centre of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of UAE President, released special media report on huge contributions of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the UAE General Women Union, on empowerment of the UAE national woman to play distinctive role in development.

The report said the ambition of Sheikha Fatima is limitless when it comes to the women empowerment, citing the humanitarian aspects being played by Sheikha Fatima based on the values of Islam.

Marking the World Woman Day, the report sheds light on the international roles of Sheikha Fatima. It cited her humanitarian dimensions in the Arab, Muslim world and across the globe.

The report referred to anxiety of Sheikha Fatima about dire humanitarian conditions of women in the crisis zones. It added that Sheikha Fatima has been calling for the international community to put an end to such suffering.

International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

The report referred to Sheikha Fatima's appreciation to the role the Emirati woman plays to ease the humanitarian conditions for the needy people as well as education, children's care, disabled and orphans issues.

The report added that Sheikha Fatima had been supporting woman issues in the international field and launched new fund to help refugees and displaced women and children across the world in coordination with United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

It also highlighted her efforts and the call for the international community to find a mechanism to declare the woman's stance in rejecting wars and destruction of infrastructures of countries.

It added that she urged to empower woman to participate in the international issues.

The report quoted a statement by Sheikha Fatima on the occasion of naming her the humanitarian personality of 1998 ,she said ' Being the humanitarian personality of the year is not a title I worked for but supporting the good and right is the best honour for me. ' Sheikha Fatima supported the woman's role in empowering international peace amongst nations of the world .This was referred amid holding 'Woman for Peace' Conference that was held in Sharm Al Sheikh in 2002 .

She urged the woman not to stand hopeless towards deterioration of the humanitarian conditions in the world due to wars and disputes in the world.

She indicated to the important role played by the General Woman's Union to present humanitarian aid via international and regional authorities and organisations for women and children affected by continuous wars and armed disputes.

She welcomed the future vision initiative presented by Mrs Suzan Mubarak the first Egyptian Lady in 2004 to stop violence in the world.

The report referred to Sheikha Fatima's statement in the international Woman's Day in 2007 where she renewed her consolidation for woman's participation in the humanitarian field worldwide.

She lent too much care for the woman's environmental, social, cultural ,educational economical and health issues and devoted herself to solve these obstacles by all ways as well as establishing new strategy to decrease illnesses especially for women of special need.

The report indicated her keenness to establish an initiative to establish the international family forum for cooperation among world nations.

Sheikha Fatima was honoured by several international organisations for presenting solutions for the woman's issues as well as the United Nations Population Fund Shield in 1997 for her efforts during 25 year of enhancing woman and family level in education and social services in addition to obtaining several shields from different international organisations.

She got the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF's shield in 1997 for her role in enhancing the woman's conditions in health and social level.

She was honoured by the Arab League in 2004 and got the great legion. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
