HE Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade has discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of investment and trade with Panama, New Zealand and Thailand.
She held bilateral meetings with trade ministers of Panama, New Zealand and Thailand on the sidelines of the seventh ministerial meeting of WTO in Geneva.
They also discussed the agenda of WTO Ministerial Meeting and ways to promote international trade for the development of economic activity in the world.
Sheikha Lubna and Roberto C. Henrquez, Minister of Trade and Industry of Panama, explored ways to promote bilateral commercial cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Sheikha Lubna confirmed that UAE is characterized by the availability of advanced infrastructure geared to enhance the flow of global investment. Moreover UAE is considered a link to the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
She stated that the UAE has begun to strengthen the role of economic sectors with high added value and increased its production to enhance economic growth and contribute to strengthening the competitive position of the UAE on the global level.
UAE minister invited Panamanian companies to strengthen its presence in the UAE market and take advantage of varied opportunities available to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and increased trade, which last year reached about $ 135 million.
She stressed the importance of moving forward with the signing of conventions preventing double taxation and in turn promotes and protects investments between the two sides.
On his part, the Panamanian Minister confirmed the importance of the visit paid by HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister to Panama during which he discussed further cooperation between the two countries in several areas.
Sheikha Lubna has discussed with Tim Groser, New Zealand's Trade Minister, ways to strengthen cooperation and investment between the two countries in agriculture and industry in addition to exchanging views on the topics of the WTO meetings.
She also held a meeting with Porntiva Nakasai , Minister of Commerce of Thailand and discussed ways to strengthening trade, investment and tourism ties. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
