The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has shown its support for the plight of Syria's child refugees with a contribution to the Big Heart for Syrian Refugee Children campaign

Recently launched by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the campaign aims to raise funds to enable the provision of proper shelter, food and education and to help displaced Syrian children overcome their situation as refugees and live a better life.

Shurooq, which has contributed a donation of DH50,000 collected from the ticket sales of a number of its leisure destinations' attractions, emphasised that they will continue to support and raise funds for this vital campaign.

Speaking of Shurooq's contribution, Mr. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of the Authority said, "The challenges being faced by Syria's refugees, especially its child refugees, are a concern that touches us all deeply. Through our contribution to the Big Heart for Syrian Refugee Children campaign, which comes under the directives of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Shurooq, we aim to affect a tangible positive difference in these children's lives and give them every possible chance to climb out from under the terrible circumstances that the world has thrust upon them."

Shurooq was established in 2009 with the aim of achieving social, cultural, environmental and economic development on the basis of Sharjah's distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and to encourage investment by adopting the best international standards in providing quality services that help attract investors from the region and the world. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
