Somalian Foreign Affairs Minister, Ismail Mohammed Hurreh, has praised the humanitarian initiatives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which aimed at alleviating and improving the situation of the Somalian people in their current predicament.

He said the initiatives had boosted the UAE's humanitarian solidarity with the Somalian people and added more credit to the good name of the UAE and its noble deeds in continuation of the way paved by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He expressed profound gratitude to the UAE for its noble stance. He said the UAE continued to be a strong support for Somalians in their humanitarian predicament and commended the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS), under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its strong support for humanitarian issues in Africa.

The Somalian minister, who was received by the RCS' Deputy Secretary General for Local Affairs, Mohammed Habroush Al Rumaithi and the RCS' Director of Information and Public Relations, Abdul Rahman Al Tunaiji, when he visited the RCS premises here yesterday, conveyed to them the profound gratitude of the Somalian government and people.

He reviewed with them the humanitarian situation in his country and stressed that the humanitarian situation was becoming more dangerous as hundreds of thousands of Somalians are under serious threat, having been displaced in their own country as they flee from the armed conflict.

Al Rumaithi, for his part said the RCS' humanitarian efforts in Somalia was one of its major missions, adding that the RCS would do everything in its capability to boost its humanitarian programmes in that country.

He pointed out that the UAE RCS was coordinating with its Somalian counterpart and other concerned bodies in Somalia to implement more programmes to alleviate the sufferings of the Somalian people. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
