South Korean Foreign Minister visits UAE mission to express condolences

South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon visited the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Seoul on Friday to express condolence on behalf of the South Korean government on the passing of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, former Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

"It is with great sorrow that we have received the sad news of the sudden and untimely passing of Sheikh Maktoum," Minister Ban told Ambassador Abdullah Mohammed Al-Ma'ainah. e went on to say that Korean people know how much he meant to the great people of the United Arab Emirates as a visionary leader behind what is popularly known here as "Dubai Miracle." Hundreds of Koreans and foreign expatriates residing in Korea have thus far visited UAE Embassy to express their condolence.

Among them were high ranking South Korean government officials, members of the Korean National Assembly and CEOs of Korea's leading business groups including Samsung and LG groups. Members of the foreign diplomatic corps in Seoul including chiefs of diplomatic missions from Arab countries also visited the UAE Embassy to express their condolence.
