The UAE's remarkable transformation into one of the region's major cultural, economic and educational hubs is being highlighted at a week-long series of discussions at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) as part of its National Day activities.

The seminar, titled ‘40 years: The UAE Federal Experience', began yesterday and will conclude on Wednesday.

"We are very proud to celebrate all that the UAE has achieved in the 40 years since its unification and having this seminar will highlight not only just how far we have come but also how we are continuing the legacy began by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan as part of his grand vision for the UAE," said Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ECSSR.

In addition to charting the country's history until the present day, speakers will also discuss the evolution of the UAE's governmental systems, its foreign and domestic policies, its economic system and personal recollections. As a part of the event, a photography exhibition on Kazakhstan opened on the premises of the ECSSR yesterday.

"We are very happy to not only be a part of this event but, more importantly, to share in the celebration of the UAE's 40th National Day… both countries have enjoyed a strong bilateral and multilateral relationship ever since our independence [in 1991]," said Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. which will be celebrating its 20th Independence Day on December 19. – Gulf News
