The United Arab Emirates' Development plans have focused on the citizen and ways to maintain human resources as the main base for development, said Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.

In a foreword of a study released by the Deputy Prime Minister Information Office (DPMIO), entitled "Khalifa bin Zayed and building of future generations", Sheikh Sultan said the country had sought to help youth develop their intellectual and physical capabilities so they can play their role in maintaining the country's comprehensive development drive.

"The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has placed the matter of preparing youth for all challenges as top priority on his agenda," Sheikh Sultan said.

"For reaching that goal," he continued, "he dedicated all means and instituted the Khalifa bin Zayed Award for the Teacher, to encourage further attention to youth and their education." The study tackles the role played by Sheikh Khalifa in building young generations and enabling them to get abreast with the latest science and technology as key element for continuing the country's march towards comprehensive development. The study cites Sheikh Khalifa's sayings on this regard as a proof of his vision for youth.

According to the study, Sheikh Khalifa once stressed that "investing in the citizen of the UAE will definitely return with positive results that reflect on the country's bright future as human being is the nation's past, present and future." The study also points to Sheikh Khalifa's care for youth, especially those who are serving with country's armed forces.

On the army unification day, Sheikh Khalifa has made it clear that "youth are the wealth of this nation and, given the challenges we are facing, it is critical that they become well-prepared to be confront all challenges ahead of us." The study praised Sheikh Khalifa's wise and foresighted economic policies.

Sheikh Khalifa's economic policies could be summed up in his saying that "by the grace of Allah the Almighty, we are pressing ahead with establishing a balanced economic structure that is based on diversifying sources of income, ensuring rising growth rates in all sectors and targeting betterment of our citizens' living standards."
