Sudanese President hails ties with UAE

Khartoum - Sudanese President Omer Hassan Al Bashir has lauded his country's 'historic' relations with the UAE and expressed appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's unlimited support to Sudan's development plans and the key role played in the return of the displaced people there.



President Al Bashir also praised the role the UAE Red Crescent Authority has been playing in improving the living conditions in South Sudan, Darfur and other regions.



He made the remarks as he received today H.E. Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, Board Chairman of the RCS who was accompanied by Isa Al Basha Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to Khartoum, Ahmed Yousif Ghaith Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the RCA and Saleem Al Junaibi, RCS's Deputy Secretary General for Relief Affairs.



Dr Al Kaabi conveyed to President Al Bashir greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.



He said the RCA's humanitarian efforts were in line with the directives of the UAE leadership and under continuous support by General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA.



Dr Al Kaabi revealed that the RCA will dispatch two planeloads of relief materials, including foodstuff, medical items and medicines to the camps of displaced people in Sudan.



He added that the RCA was considering "model agricultural development projects" such as the "Zayed Al Khair" project in Wad Rawa district. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
