Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) in collaboration with UAE Health Ministry has launched a public awareness campaign on H1N1 virus (swine flu). The initiative has been taken in response to WHO recent raising of worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 6, indicating a global pandemic is in the offing. Over 55,000 confirmed cases have been reported all over the world, posing a real threat to the global travel and tourism industries.
The awareness campaign includes distribution of leaflets, information about the illness, modes of transmission, symptoms and prevention to all hotel premises and tourism facilities to combat any possible outbreak. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
