Tawazun signs new JV to manufacture Nimr vehicles in Algeria

Tawazun Holding, the steadily growing manufacturer which is helping to build the industrial backbone of the UAE, has expanded its presence in the African defence market by inking of a joint venture (JV) agreement with Groupement de la Promotion de l'Industrie Mecanique (GPIM), a company under the Algerian Ministry of National Defense's Direction des Fabrications Militaires(DFM), designed to create a new Algerian-based armoured vehicle manufacturer. GPIM is the main automotive industrial arm of DFM.

The joint venture- which will see the new company produce UAE-designed armoured vehicles in Algeria under license from Nimr - means that the UAE is now exporting its advanced defence technology know-how to other markets around the world.

The agreement also allows Tawazun easier access to the African defence market, opening up new commercial opportunities for the fast-growing strategic manufacturer. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
