Tawazun Industrial Park CEO: Industrial sector growth has led more companies to set up in Abu Dhabi

Tawazun Industrial Park, TIP, is attracting more companies to set up in the park, which is becoming known as the Middle Eastern hub for defence manufacturing, aerospace and the oil and gas industries.

The park signed leases with five new tenants in 2014, and the country's focus on industrialisation means that more industries are looking for space this year, according to Rashed Al Darmaki, the Chief Executive Officer of TIP.

Mr Al Darmaki said, "The park presents a unique opportunity for defence and precision manufacturing companies looking to create a base in the region. It offers a ‘plug and play' solution whereby companies can take advantage of shared resources riding on highly advanced infrastructure in a secure site surrounded by peer organisations. Our tenants are offered a world-class industrial zone with a broad range of benefits and access to a number of important regions." "We're investing heavily in the site to expand our infrastructure that has already attracted overseas investors. We believe that TIP is a very appealing proposition for companies eyeing this region as their next operational hub," he added.

Al Darmaki added that TIP's infrastructure is primarily designed for the defence manufacturing sector. This focus has a knock-on effect, and basic metal, precision manufacturing, aerospace and the oil and gas service companies have also moved in.

Nimr Automotive – which manufactures vehicles for international armed forces and internal security organisations - is currently building one of the largest facilities in TIP. Due for completion at the end of 2015, the Nimr facility will be spread over 3.5 hectares.

Tawazun Precision Industries is expanding its operations through a new facility for their project with Boeing Defence, Space and Security, which will see the partnership focus on surface finishing of aluminium and titanium. Advance Turbine Technologies - a Mubadala and Liburdi project - is also operating from TIP.
