Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, Al Ain City in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will host the Second International Festival of Falconry from 11 to17 December. The Festival is organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) in cooperation with the Emirates Falconers' Club and the Council of British Falconers.
Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Advisor for Culture and Heritage in the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Director General of ADACH, stressed that the organisation of this international event is a celebration of the registration of falconry as an inscription on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
"The Festival is also is a continuation of the First International Falconry Conference, which was inaugurated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul, in December 1976 in order to preserve falconry as one of the most important pillars of national heritage," he added.
Al Mazrouei revealed that the Festival "includes the conducting of desert camps and organising of a scientific conference with the participation of hundreds of experts, researchers, falconers and those interested from around the world in addition to many practical workshops and innovative heritage and cultural activities. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
